A Collection of short questions and short replies

By Fred Pruitt

You also asked what “keep your heart with all diligence” (Prov 4:23) means. It means simply standing in the faith of who you really are in your spirit. You are united to Christ in your spirit (1 Cor 6:17), and it is out of that inner union that you find the truth of your life and your own fullness of self in Him. It’s the same as when He says in John to “abide in Him.” It means remaining in the truth that you know within you. Things will assault you and tempt you and tell you that you are not in union with Christ, that He does not live in you and direct your life. To “keep your heart” is to simply remember who you are which lessens the strength of the temptation.

A comment from Kim

Kim: Could you explain how we “bless God?” I know God blesses us but how could we bless Him?

Reply: Hi Kim, I just found this question you asked a few months ago. I do not think I replied to you. How do we “bless” God? Do you have children? If you do, are you not blessed by the fact that you love them and they love you? God doesn’t “need” our love because He is sufficient in Himself, but it is His pure joy and delight to love us, and just like earthly parents, He is blessed especially when His outgoing Love is turned through His children toward Him. Love going full circle is His intention from the beginning. His love is an outgoing expanding force in the universe, so that it is ever growing and ever widening. But it doesn’t go just outward. It goes out infinitely and is returned infinitely, and through it and because of it, joy, delight, and laughter are found in the heart of the universe. Which we may find, is everywhere!

A comment by Debbie re: Loving the World

Good Morning, Fred,

Thank you for your blog. I enjoy all of your writings because I have experienced all of it along my journey with Jesus, one way or another. My crys to the Lord, “What do you want from me?” “Whatever it is I don’t have it!” I screamed it out in total defeat and desperation. I even wrote Rex Humbard because I knew I was on my way to Hell because I could not walk this road. The Lord spoke to me, in my tent, Come to me, all you who LABOR and are heavily burdened, and I will give you REST. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find REST for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. I had heard that scripture so many times but it was alive right then, in a way I had NEVER seen it before. I was laboring. Well, that was just the beginning. As you know, “Once caught, No escape!” Then He took me to the Vine. I’m sure there are so many different testimonies like ours, of course, because God is FAITHFUL and will NEVER LEAVE US NOR FORSAKE US! I really wanted to share this one. I went to Pennsylvania to help a friend move back to Ft. Worth, Tx. While there we had a time of prayer and read from the Word. We then started our day of packing. I was pondering what we had read and I asked the Lord, “If we are under Grace and no longer the Law, why is the Bible so full of dos and don’ts? I received an immediate answer, “The Word of God is not for the natural man.” It was like dominoes, “Oh, I see, it’s for the spiritual man. Well, the spiritual man is Now “Christ In Us.” Oh, no wonder we can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us. He has done, continues to to do All things in us, through us and as us. It is Finished! Wow, and yes, the church and many do not like this TRUTH. Yep, felt like Elijah many times – alone. All is good “in Him.” “In Him” it is Joy unspeakable and FULL of Glory!” Thanks Fred, you have a good one! Debbie

Comment from Jerry re: Finding the True Pearl of Great Price

Jerry: This Finding the Pearl article is what I need. I try try try but continue to fail in my walk of trying to be a good Christian. I need a Holy Spirit revelation.

Reply: Jerry, thanks for writing. Of course you continue to fail in “trying” to be a good Christian. That’s what the “self-effort” I mention constantly in my articles is, us “trying” to be good Christians. It does not work that way nor will it ever. And that is what you are supposed to find out through your “efforts,” that you, by yourself trying to do it, can never ever measure up to God’s standards. That comes to an end when you give up. We call it “coming to the end of ourselves.” In some way we are prompted from within to say, “Lord, I can’t do this, and now I realize that I am not supposed to do it, that it is your Life in me that accomplishes by grace through faith what I could never accomplish on my own. I give up, Lord, and believe YOU are living in me to “will and to DO of YOUR good pleasure.” What did Jesus say, “The Son does nothing of Himself. The Father that dwelleth within me, He does the works!” Catch that? Jesus, THE ONLY BEGOTTON SON OF GOD, did NOTHING OF HIMSELF, but RESTED in the secure reality and Truth that the Father was the “Doer” in Him. And then just let go and say, “Lord, it’s your ballgame from now on!” I hope that helps a little bit!

Also, about 10 years ago I wrote a little book called, The Axe Laid to the Root. It’s main emphasis concerns this subject, i.e., our apparent predilection to sin, and where the overcoming is. Click the link to check it out: The Axe Laid to the Root.

Dennis commented on “Our Inner Confirmation.”

Fantastical Fred! Amazing freedom and liberty we have in Christ Jesus…a liberty that freaks the outer man completely out of his mind! All the you should, you must, you have to’s keep yelling their demands at us…but it’s like swimming. You know how you can still hear people yelling at you when you swim along the surface? But then duck dive down under the water and hold your breath….can’t hear them now. All is still, all is peaceful. So, I love how you described it above! Let him stew! My life is hid with Christ in God. I am in over my head! We have put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Gal 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Gal 3:25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

It’s like the Law and all that self effort to please God is me swimming along the surface, hearing the commands and shoulds and must do’s of the Old Man’s mindset….BUT…as many as WERE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST HAVE PUT ON CHRIST!!
Baptized…immersed into, held under, submerged and HID WITH CHRIST IN GOD….OLD Man dead…But wait….up from the depths of death He rose..and me with and in Him….like a Humpback Whale rising above the waters. There I am in Christ and He in me.

Gust commented re: A Flurry of I AMs 2017

Gust: Yes I am angry at God right now!

Why did he created me??
Love ? What ist love? Being hier feels like torture! Everything in the bible is about suffering what a good news, really?!
Sorry Fred but I just can’t take it anymore….

Reply: I am sorry you are hurting and angry. I have no idea why or what you are experiencing that is causing these feelings and thoughts in you. But I also know that things aren’t as grim as you’re seeing at the moment, no matter how bad they are or what they might be. I could write encyclopedias trying to answer some of the questions you’ve been asking, but I don’t think I could fill up your mind enough with answers or soothe your soul enough with feelings that would ever fulfill you completely. That is because the answers are not found in our thinking minds or our feelings or circumstances of life; God Himself is the answer!

Jesus said, “And this is eternal Life, that they might know Thee, the Only True God, and Jesus Christ, Whom Thou has sent.” (John 17:3). So press as you can into that. There is no other full satisfaction except finding God by “knowing” Him, something which we cannot do or accomplish on our own but, “The Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Rev 22:17). Finding Christ in you and knowing Him within you, is as available to you by grace through faith, as it is available by grace through faith to anyone else. “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:43)

Keep writing as you will. You will see God’s answer for you, which as I said, is not stuff about God, but God Himself. We only find completeness and wholeness in Him. I’ll leave it with you.

Called to Restore: Responding to “What About Anxiety?”

Hi Fred, I started my day today worrying about a loved one and their choices. That’s nothing knew! As I fumbled around in my head I was musing about the way I worry over many things. Then I realised that that is the way I am in my natural self…it is a family trait…”Oh well” I said to myself. Then I came into the house and somehow He led me(as He always does)to find your word here. Good word alright!

Also there is this other thing working in us, it is the I want to fix everything and every one syndrome.

What a conundrum we are! One mess trying to help another mess not be such a mess….

Maybe “streets of transparent gold” speaks more about full acceptance of our Christ nature rather the absence of imperfection.

Reply: Thank you for writing and commenting. It’s always a plus to meet someone new. I am glad the Spirit has used me to encourage and edify you! I think you are right. We do not have to fight who we really are. There has been a great misunderstanding for generations of Christians, in that we have been taught that there is something inherently wrong about ourselves, so that we can NEVER measure up our entire life, and we should always seek to get out of God’s way, since we’ll mess everything up. We think when God considers us He has a frown on His face, when nothing could be further from the truth! When He considers us, He sees us the same way He sees/saw Job, and even the Blessed Only Begotten, “This is my beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.” And the same applies to us through grace. Who we REALLY ARE is a God-perfected self Who is one in the Spirit with the Father and the Son, Sons in THE SON! So God says the same about us, too, because we are not separate from the blessings of Jesus of Nazareth, rather, He died and rose again so that we might come into this fellowship of oneness with the Father, Son and Spirit. (John 17:11;20-23). Thanks again for writing!
