Pray the Lord of the Harvest 2016
by Fred Pruitt
Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. (John 4:35)
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. (Luke 10:2)
All my days many have been saying that we are in the time of the end. Though in the past I have dabbled in it, I am not a student of eschatology (study of the end-times), and must leave the specifics of those issues to those to whom they are given.
But I do know this is a juncture in history, a spiritually critical time for the human race and specifically for the body of Christ, the Church — Christ’s Bride! There is a greater need in our time than in any time in history, since the days of the Apostles, for the Bride of Christ to stand up and assume its maturity by unashamedly being the house and dwelling place of the Glory of God. “Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.” (Ps 50:2)
I believe that this message of Christ in us, through us and as us, has been given at just this time in history, for just this present moment. I do not know the specifics of the future. But already the signs are there. In many nations all over the world our Christian brethren are experiencing tremendous persecutions. Through both secular and religious authorities and/or by mob violence, many of those who confess Jesus Christ have been restricted, beaten, imprisoned, tortured, and some even killed for their professions of faith.
While perhaps in our western countries, which have historically been called “Christian,” we cannot imagine that such things can occur, history shows us they can occur and can come up suddenly without warning. I think of Corrie Ten Boom, who lived a quiet life into her fifties, going to Sunday school picnics and working in her father’s clock shop, before the Nazis came goose-stepping into the Netherlands. In those quiet days, who would have imagined the atrocities that would happen in those dark years, the persecutions and the sufferings perpetrated on God’s people, both toward His Bride in Christ and the decimation of Israel, the apple of His eye? It was unthinkable then, and it is unthinkable now.
But it is for such a time as this that we have been given this charge. Each of us must speak as the Spirit gives us utterance, and the utterance He has given us is to declare to individual brothers and sisters in Christ, the fullness of Who we each are, as containers (vessels) of Christ (2 Cor 4:7), temples (dwelling-places) of Christ (1 Cor 6:19), branches of Christ, the True Vine (John 15:5), each of us individual BODY PARTS of the One Christ — one a hand, one a foot, one a mouth, and so on.
What great imagery is in these simple words which so often we take for granted! If we have ears, LET US HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT IS SAYING! We are EACH of us builded together, placed in the structure according to God’s plan, for an habitation of God through the Spirit, with the Apostles and Prophets being our foundation, and Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Cornerstone (Eph 2:19-22). This is not figurative! This IS present moment living truth!
It is only by the Truth of the full knowing of this undeniable fact of our oneness with and in Christ (John 17:11, 21-23), plainly testified to over and over in Holy Scripture, that God’s people can put aside, “the sin which so easily besets us,” (which is unbelief masquerading in independent, self-relying, self-focusing, self-attentive self). When this gross impediment of sinful unbelief is removed by the Holy Spirit, then we are able to receive the Spirit’s revelation that we are each of us living manifestors of the Living Christ (Christ formed in us – Gal 4:19), and each of us are then enabled to hear the specific calls God puts into each of our hearts, that we might then collectively grow up “into Him … a perfect man … unto the full measure and stature of Christ.”
This is the time.
It is time that the churches grow up, so that they are no more spiritual nurseries of whining, self-focused infants, living in a wrongful and immature “God for me” focus — “heal me,” “fix me,” “prosper me,” “give me,” “help me,” “make me spiritual,” etc. That focus only seeks to build an earthly edifice, being mindful of only earthly things, building up earthly treasures, politically mindful of Caesar’s business, while God’s business is left unattended. God doesn’t seek to win at the polls or on Wall Street, for He already IS Lord of Lords and already has made all that has been made and distributes it as He wills. “Seek ye first His kingdom,” says Jesus, “and all these things [you need] will be added to you!”
It is time to give up the dead men’s bones of the wilderness, where the carcasses lay of those who refuse to go into the land of promise in Christ our CURRENT VICTORY NOW. It is time to believe Jesus Christ, Who said in plain words, “To him who believes, the Spirit will flow out of you in RIVERS!” All He said to do is BELIEVE! And RIVERS would flow out! (John 7:38)
It is time to give up the unbelief that keeps us as dead men’s carcasses littering the wilderness. It is time to believe the plain testimonies of the Lord, who has said we are even now complete and lacking nothing, thereby taking up the accoutrements of our sainthood. It is time to lay aside unbelief. Shall we remain those whose mouths confess Christ, but whose hearts refuse to believe and accept OUR OWN CURRENT resurrection, by continuing to testify of ourselves that we are still slaves to sin, that the resurrection really hasn’t affected us?
This would be close to trampling the Cross of Christ afresh under our feet, by saying it is really of none effect in us, if after Jesus has risen, we say we are still sinners. This may give lip-service to an outer Resurrection of an historical Jesus of 2000 years ago, but plainly denies the REAL RESURRECTION of Christ in us in the present moment — which is the purposed MAJOR EFFECT of that long-ago bodily resurrection. We have not yet seen all that Jesus’ Resurrection has accomplished, but how can we even begin to see it if we do not accept what it already has accomplished IN US in this present moment?
So therefore let us lay aside this impediment of unbelief. This is not our calling. We are not of those who fall back into unbelief, are we? Are we not those who continue on believing to the saving of the soul? This is what we are called in Hebrews. (Heb 10:38,39) Can we not agree?
The time is come NOW for a new Word in the Church. NOW is the time for the true equipping of the saints of God, a putting on of Christ in truth and essence, by a faith walk of Truth, an eating of Him continually as the Bread of Heaven, and a perpetual drinking of His Blood, for the Life that HE IS that now dwells in us, through His Body and through His Blood. We do this by faith in a perpetual confession that through Jesus Christ we are not just ourselves, but now Christ in us, walking, talking, thinking, acting, manifesting through our human lives to the world He has called us to (2 Cor 4:10,11; Gal 2:20).
It is time to walk through Red Seas with the waters standing as an heap on the right and on the left. It is time to walk over flood-swelled Jordans on dry ground, following the Ark of the Testimony!
It is time now to give not for getting, but giving to give! It is time to spend and to be spent, used up, wasted, eaten up by the zeal of the Holy One Who causes us daily to walk in His ways, being not mindful of the persecutions, disagreements, and the frowns on their faces! Some do not have the knowledge of God, so therefore “how beautiful are the feet of them who bring good news.”
Let us therefore go forth, weeping and bearing precious seed! Because we shall come again rejoicing, bringing in our sheaves!
AWAKE THOU THAT SLEEPEST!!
THE TIME IS NOW!!
